In a noteworthy shift towards sustainable transportation, electric passenger vehicle retail sales in India experienced a 93% year-on-year jump in July, as reported by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) on Friday.

Leading the charge was Tata Motors, with a robust increase to 6,047 units from 5,100 units in the same period last year. However, the electric two-wheeler sector faced a slight downturn, dropping 4% to 1,02,973 units.

This trend, coupled with a 52% rise in electric commercial vehicle sales, underscores the growing adoption of electric vehicles in mainstream consumer markets and fleets, a movement bolstered by policy support and infrastructure expansion, according to FADA President CS Vigneshwar.
