On Friday, Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary addressed an essential aspect of labor economics, highlighting the necessity for industries to offer higher salaries to attract people with certified skills. Speaking at a skills summit organized by FICCI, Chaudhary stressed that the industry should recognize the value of skill and education.

The Minister pointed out that the ongoing complaints about the shortage of skilled personnel include the industry itself as both a contributor to and a solver of the problem. He emphasized the need to provide higher pay scales to individuals who are certified, thereby putting a tangible value on skilling and education.

Chaudhary also remarked on the need for investments to close the skilling gap. He stated that the young generation must see immediate improvements in their livelihoods, either through increased salaries or entrepreneurship opportunities, to recognize the worth of their acquired skills.
