Commissioner of Railway Safety Sumeet Singhal conducted a meticulous inspection of the Kolkata Metro's Yellow Line on Saturday. This new line aims to connect the city's airport to Kolkata, enhancing transit options for commuters.

The scrutinized section, Noapara to Jai Hind (airport), is scheduled for a grand opening by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 22, as mentioned by Union minister Sukanta Majumdar. The requisite approval from the CRS is pivotal for commencing any railway project in India.

The inspection covered the Dum Dum Cantonment-Jai Hind stretch, where CRS Singhal evaluated crucial features like tracks and emergency response systems. A metro spokesperson acknowledged that Singhal was impressed with the section's readiness. The section includes four stations and links to the heritage Blue Line at Noapara.
