Record-Breaking Diwali Sales in Delhi: A Swadeshi Surge
This Diwali, Delhi's markets are witnessing record-breaking sales, driven by a GST rate cut and a strong push for Swadeshi goods. Consumers are increasingly choosing Indian products, leading to a decline in Chinese imports. The trend aligns with a broader national movement supporting local artisans and traders.

Traders in Delhi are anticipating unprecedented sales this Diwali, with projections indicating that the city's festive business could reach Rs 75,000 crore, according to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT). A reduction in GST rates and the government's Swadeshi push are key drivers behind this surge.
During a press conference, CAIT Secretary General and Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal emphasized that this Diwali could witness one of the highest sales volumes recorded in the city's history. Consumers are responding robustly to the Prime Minister's 'Vocal for Local' initiative, showing a marked preference for Indian-made goods.
A CAIT survey conducted in 35 cities, including Delhi, highlights a clear shift in consumer preferences. Indian products dominate shopping lists across categories such as home goods, garments, and electronics. Chinese goods, once prevalent in Diwali shopping, are notably absent from the market this year.
