An Air India flight headed for Newark encountered a technical issue, prompting an unexpected return to Mumbai early Wednesday morning. The Boeing 777 aircraft, part of flight AI191, had been in the air for over three hours before air traffic control at Mumbai cleared its return.
According to a statement from the airline, the precautionary measure was taken by the crew due to suspicions of a technical problem. Upon safe landing back in Mumbai, the airline conducted thorough inspections of the aircraft to identify the cause of the issue.
Consequently, both AI191's departure and AI144's subsequent inbound service from Newark were canceled, affecting numerous passengers. Air India assured all affected travelers of hotel accommodations and immediate rebooking on alternate flights, promising swift resolution.
