A devastating accident occurred in Telangana's Ranga Reddy district when a gravel-laden tipper lorry collided head-on with a public transport bus, resulting in the tragic loss of 19 lives and leaving 22 others injured. The tipper collided with the bus near Chevella, around 50 km from Hyderabad, causing gravel to spill onto the bus, trapping passengers.
With relief efforts in full swing, officials, including Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, have assured advanced medical care for the injured and financial assistance for the victims' families. The state government, in addition to a compensation announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will provide financial support to the families of the deceased and those injured.
The police are investigating the cause of the collision, with indications that a vehicle being on the wrong side may have contributed. The narrowness of the road has been cited as a possible factor. The government has pledged to conduct thorough inquiries and take measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
