In an alarming incident in West Delhi's Anand Parbat, a 29-year-old man named Vishal Singh attempted self-immolation due to crippling financial stress. On Monday night, around 9.50 p.m., authorities received a call about a burn victim being admitted to BLK Hospital.
Singh, who suffered significant burns, was reportedly stable according to the attending doctors. In a statement recorded under medical supervision, Singh revealed his financial troubles, citing a business loss of Rs 3 to 4 lakh and outstanding debts to two lenders as the primary stressors.
The financial distress led Singh to set himself on fire inside his rented accommodation. His wife and neighbors acted quickly, getting him medical attention. He has since been transferred to Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment, as stated by the police.
