Chandigarh Railway Station Sets New Benchmark in Modernization

The Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, revealed several groundbreaking innovations to elevate the Chandigarh railway station to a world-class standard. Speaking to reporters, he emphasized that the redevelopment, featuring modular designs and prefabricated components, is progressing swiftly.
During his inspection of the Delhi-Chandigarh route alongside Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu, Vaishnaw engaged in detailed discussions with track, signal, and relay maintenance staff to enhance work practices. While visiting the Semi-conductor Laboratory in Mohali, he announced a significant Rs 4,500 crore investment to modernize the facility.
Additionally, Vaishnaw, who also holds portfolios for Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, stated that Rs 462 crore is being invested for the modernization of the Chandigarh station. Under the 'Amrit Bharat' scheme, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, over 1,300 stations nationwide are being redeveloped to upgrade passenger facilities and infrastructure.
