A devastating accident on Sunday in Bihar's East Champaran district resulted in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to several others. The mishap occurred on NH27 near the Kotwa police station in Motihari when a speeding truck slammed into a service lane filled with waiting vehicles.

According to DSP (Sadar 1) Dilip Kumar, the truck caused massive destruction after entering the service lane where multiple motorcycles and an auto-rickshaw were parked. Following the collision, the truck driver fled the scene. The bodies of the deceased have been dispatched for post-mortem examination.

Initial investigations suggest driver fatigue as a possible cause of the accident. The local community responded with fury, blocking the highway and setting an NHAI vehicle on fire. Police intervened and eventually managed to clear the road blockage.
