In a major leap towards modernization, pensioners nationwide participated in a month-long campaign, generating over 1.5 crore digital life certificates, according to the Centre's Monday update. This marked a shift away from the inconveniences of physical submissions, offering a digital alternative that promises ease and efficiency.
Launched by the Department of Pensions and Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW), the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) campaign 4.0 spanned from November 1 to 30, focusing on streamlining submissions for super senior pensioners. With innovative technology and extensive cooperation, the campaign significantly improved pensioners' welfare, setting a new benchmark with its scale.
An impressive 60% of these digital certificates utilized face authentication, proving essential for seniors with blurred fingerprints and those in remote locales. The campaign underscored a growing acceptance of Aadhaar-based digital verification, driven by efforts from banks and the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), who facilitated doorstep services for pensioners above 80 years old.
