Indian Railways Amplifies Capacity with 116 Additional Coaches

In response to increased passenger demand, Indian Railways has added 116 coaches to 37 premium trains, covering 114 trips. This enhancement improves accommodation across regions, with notable coach augmentations in the Southern, Northern, Western, Eastern, and Northeastern areas to boost connectivity nationwide.

In a strategic move to meet surging passenger demand amid widespread flight cancellations, Indian Railways has intensified service operations. The national transport provider has equipped 37 premium trains with an extra 116 coaches, covering 114 trips across the country. Southern Railway leads with the highest number of upgrades.

The Ministry of Railways announced significant capacity enhancements, including additional Chair Car and Sleeper Class coaches on high-demand routes effective December 6, 2025. Northern and Western Railways have followed suit, boosting services in their respective regions to cater to increased travel needs.

Additional services include special train operations to accommodate peak demand, such as the Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar Terminal and the New Delhi-Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Vande Bharat Special, ensuring improved connectivity to critical regions like the Jammu and Mumbai corridors.
