The South Central Railway has announced the deployment of four special trains to address the surge in passenger numbers following large-scale cancellations of IndiGo flights from Hyderabad. The decision aims to alleviate the disruption experienced by travelers facing extensive delays and long queues at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
According to airport sources, as many as 74 outbound IndiGo flights are expected to be canceled on Saturday, with a similar number of incoming flights likely to face the same fate. This situation has resulted in significant frustration among passengers, leading to heated exchanges at airline counters.
IndiGo's CEO Pieter Elbers issued an apology for the inconvenience faced by passengers, stating that the airline anticipates fewer than 1,000 flights on Saturday. The cancellations have drawn criticism from affected travelers, who took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the handling of the situation.
