In a significant move to bolster healthcare in rural Maharashtra, the Janki Foundation, in collaboration with Shri Chaitanya Health and Care Trust, has announced the establishment of a new 100-bed rural multi-specialty hospital in Wada, Palghar district. The facility, named Bhaktivedanta Hospital and Research Institute, Asha Navani Multi Specialty Rural Hospital, aims to address critical healthcare needs in the region.
The hospital is set to transform healthcare access for nearly a million residents across the Wada, Jawhar, Mokhada, and Vikramgad blocks, placing special emphasis on women and children's health. It will feature comprehensive departments that cater to every stage of life, from neonatal to geriatric care, and help tackle high infant and maternal mortality rates in the area.
Part of the broader Govardhan Eco Village campus, the hospital will not only offer clinical care but also empower local tribal women through employment and skill development programs. The development, spread over 70 acres, will include facilities like an Integrated Wellness Centre, Assisted Care Living, and various educational and vocational initiatives. The hospital is slated to be operational within two years, marking a significant enhancement to the region's medical infrastructure.
