The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has launched a significant initiative by seeking bids for a consultant to conduct a techno-commercial feasibility study for a third runway at Navi Mumbai International Airport. An official from the state-run planning authority confirmed this on Sunday.
The proposal, initiated through an e-tendering process, aims to gather online Requests for Proposal (RFP) from eligible reputable business entities or joint ventures and consortia. The study will focus on evaluating the technical and commercial viability of the runway given future air traffic growth and operational needs.
The consultancy assignment will last six months and will follow the Least Cost Selection (LCS) procurement method. Detailed bidding schedules and tender documents will be posted on the CIDCO e-tendering portal starting December 16. The study is crucial for the strategic capacity planning of Navi Mumbai International Airport as it grows to relieve Mumbai's existing airport and address increasing passenger and cargo traffic.
