Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has taken a pioneering step by becoming the first in India to offer the 'National Common Mobility Card' for seamless travel, announced Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh on Tuesday. This card allows passengers to traverse the country with ease, including access to the Delhi Metro and DTC buses.

In an effort to modernize and enhance the public transport system, Chief Minister Singh introduced the Nadaun-Hamirpur-Ghumarwin-Delhi Volvo (luxury) bus service. The state government is set to add 297 electric buses to HRTC's fleet, aimed at promoting green transportation. A total of 25 buses have already been added, increasing the Volvo bus count to 98.

Efforts to improve passenger convenience continue, with new electric vehicle charging stations planned throughout Himachal Pradesh. The government is also rolling out 50 tempo travellers, 24 super luxury buses, and has plans for 250 diesel and 100 mini buses. The state's commitment to eco-friendly transport remains robust, supported by convenient UPI, debit, and credit card fare payments.
