Hundreds of workers involved in services related to the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage are demanding compensation from authorities due to concerns over a proposed ropeway project.
The ropeway, which links the shrine with the base camp in Katra, is fiercely opposed by the Sangharsh Samiti, a local association.
The group insists on halting the Rs 250-crore project until workers are compensated, warning of protests if their demands go unmet, as the project could impact the livelihoods of over 60,000 families.
