Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hailed the recent India-US trade agreement, overseen by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as a watershed moment for the state's economy and its global ambitions. He emphasized the significance of reduced tariffs which bolster India's export capabilities and fortify local industries.
As reported, the new agreement cuts US import duties on Indian goods to 18% from 25%, hailed as an economic milestone by both Indian and US leaders. Majhi pointed to the deal's potential to empower Odisha's manufacturing, MSMEs, and textile sectors, opening international markets and creating jobs.
Majhi also underscored the trade deal's positive impact on Odisha's coastal communities, particularly in seafood exports, and highlighted the state's growing strategic role in global technology supply chains.
