During the 'AI for All: Driving Equitable Growth and Societal Good' conference, NITI Aayog's Distinguished Fellow, Debjani Ghosh, underscored the necessity of continuous support for India's micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to successfully integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into their operations.
Ghosh pointed out that despite increased awareness of digital technologies, many MSMEs are still unequipped with the necessary tools, guidance, and ecosystem support for meaningful digital transformation. She emphasized the sector's significant role in India's inclusive growth, labeling it both a backbone of the economy and a mobility ladder for millions.
The Confederation of Indian Industry's X-Edge initiative was highlighted as a model for creating sustainable ecosystems to support MSMEs. The program involves students from tier-two and tier-three cities working directly with MSMEs, receiving academic credit and providing ongoing digital support, fostering a 'virtuous cycle' in the economy.
