The Bhaderwah-Pathankot inter-state road in Doda district faced a major disruption on Sunday when an avalanche struck, leaving numerous vehicles stranded. According to a police officer, the incident occurred between Thanthera and Guldanda, approximately 18 kilometers from the town of Bhaderwah.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in the wake of the avalanche, which occurred around 5 pm. Guldanda, a well-known winter hotspot in the Jammu region, had already seen over 250 vehicles carrying tourists pass through the area before the avalanche hit.
Efforts are underway with men and machinery deployed to clear the road of debris. The Bhaderwah-Basholi highway had only been reopened earlier in the day after the Border Roads Organisation completed a snow clearance operation. The road is anticipated to be open for traffic again by 9 pm.
