The PAX SILICA initiative marks a pivotal moment in technology collaboration between the United States and India. Sanjay Mehrotra, President and CEO of Micron Technology, attributes this progress to the supportive regulatory environment in India. 'Modi's government has provided tremendous support and policies encouraging investment,' Mehrotra stated.
At the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, Mehrotra announced Micron Technology's substantial USD 2.75 billion investment in Gujarat to establish a semiconductor assembly and test facility. The Sanand facility, described as a 'pioneering initiative,' marks a critical step in India's semiconductor manufacturing sector.
Mehrotra painted an impressive picture of the facility's scale, equating it to 10 cricket fields and using materials surpassing the Eiffel Tower and Olympic-sized pools. He emphasized memory and storage's key role in AI, a sector Micron leads globally. Since 2019, Micron has enhanced India's tech landscape, employing 24,000 people and championing innovation.
