A coal-laden goods train derailed in Madhya Pradesh's Katni district on Saturday, causing significant disruption to rail traffic on a frequently traveled route. The incident occurred at around 10:30 am near the A Cabin in the NKJ area, leading to an urgent response from railway officials.
The West Central Railway's chief public relations officer, Harshit Shrivastava, reported ongoing efforts to restore the line swiftly, with a team from Jabalpur assigned to oversee the repairs. The mishap affected services on routes connected to Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, with several trains being diverted and others shortened in their routes.
Katni Area Manager Rohit Singh informed that the train was en route to West Baroda from Bilaspur when six of its wagons derailed. The ensuing disruption led to four trains being diverted, with additional impacts on other services, while rail staff promptly arrived on the scene to evaluate the situation.
