The Communist Party of India (Marxist) sharply criticized the government on Sunday for the significant increase in LPG prices, accusing it of an anti-people stance by refusing to lower taxes on cooking gas cylinders.

In a strongly worded statement, the CPI(M) Politburo condemned the price hike that impacts both domestic and commercial consumers, emphasizing the Rs 60 increase for domestic cylinders and Rs 114.50 for commercial ones.

The party dismissed the government's justification of the West Asian conflict for the hike, calling it a hypocritical defense, and demanded an immediate reversal of the increase to ease the burden on middle-class and low-income households.
