Switzerland Shuts Embassy Amid Middle East Tensions
Switzerland has temporarily closed its embassy in Tehran due to growing security risks amid the Middle East war. The ambassador and Swiss staff have safely exited Iran. Switzerland will continue to facilitate dialogue between the U.S. and Iran, awaiting safer conditions to reopen the embassy.
In response to escalating tensions in the Middle East, Switzerland has announced the temporary closure of its embassy in Tehran, citing increasing security risks.
According to the Swiss foreign office, the ambassador and five staff members have safely left Iran by land. The embassy will resume its functions once circumstances improve.
Switzerland will maintain open communications between the United States and Iran, working in consultation with both nations, as part of its diplomatic efforts in the region.
