Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, former HPCL CMD M K Surana emphasizes India's urgent focus on fuel availability over pricing. Amid rising geopolitical tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, the former HPCL Chairman M K Surana has highlighted India's urgent need to focus on fuel availability. In an interview with ANI, Surana noted that while current circumstances are challenging, fuel supplies are being managed efficiently.

Surana pointed out the specific challenges with LPG supplies due to the disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global oil and gas shipments. He praised India's diplomatic efforts that have managed to reinstate some fuel shipments and reiterated the importance of cooperation with government strategies over panic buying.

India remains heavily reliant on crude oil imports, with around 90 percent coming from abroad. However, diversification efforts have reduced dependence on the Strait of Hormuz to 30 percent. Despite the complexities, petrol and diesel supplies remain stable while LPG logistics are under particular scrutiny to ensure continued household availability.
