Tamil Nadu has soared to the top of India's textile export arena, achieving shipments valued at USD 7,997.17 million for the fiscal year 2024-25, representing a 29.12% increase from four years ago, per government data.
The state has displayed robust growth in the textile sector, strategically surpassing key competitors such as Gujarat and Maharashtra. In 2020-21, export figures stood at USD 6,193 million. This upward trend is attributed to targeted actions by the state government.
Tamil Nadu contributes 21.84% of India's overall textile exports, according to the National-Import-Export Record for Yearly Analysis of Trade. It emphasizes that government-initiated schemes across various departments have fueled multifaceted development.
