Bihar's Mining Revenue Surge: A New Era of Entrepreneurship

Bihar's Mines and Geology Department recorded a revenue of Rs 3,592 crore in 2025-26, 93% of their annual target. Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha announced measures to curb illegal mining, including mandatory geo-fencing and e-challan systems, aiming to transform Bihar's mining landscape into a field of entrepreneurship.

The Bihar Mines and Geology Department has achieved a remarkable revenue milestone, collecting Rs 3,592 crore in the 2025-26 fiscal year, which is 93% of its annual target of Rs 3,850 crore, as announced by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha.

The deputy CM credited the transformation of Bihar's mining landscape from a hub of disturbances to a burgeoning field of entrepreneurship to the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Key initiatives such as geo-fencing, a 24/7 command and control center, and e-challan systems have been instrumental in curbing illegal mining activities.

Further strengthening the sector, the government has introduced mandatory provisions for transit passes and marked mining vehicles for clarity. Upcoming auctions for mineral blocks in Rohtas and other regions aim to reduce dependence on imports and boost local job opportunities.
