The Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway has taken a significant step towards improving passenger logistics by launching a dedicated Rapido pickup facility at Visakhapatnam railway station. This new development aims to streamline passenger movement and enhance last-mile connectivity.
Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra highlighted that prior to this facility, passengers faced delays due to inaccurate estimated arrival times, leading to congestion and inconvenience. The new pickup zone, part of the Non-Fare Revenue system, promises reduced waiting times and immediate rides for the estimated 8,000 to 10,000 daily passengers.
The initiative is designed with passenger safety in mind, offering women the option of choosing women drivers and providing trained drivers for senior citizens and those needing assistance. This facility represents a forward-thinking approach to addressing logistical challenges faced by railway commuters.
