In a significant move, the government's Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has revised the adjusted gross revenue (AGR) liability of Vodafone Idea, slashing it by 27% to Rs 64,046 crore, according to a company filing released on Thursday.

The liability, initially frozen at Rs 87,695 crore as of December 31, 2025, underwent reassessment following the formation of a committee appointed by the DoT. This decision stands as a crucial development for the debt-laden telecom provider seeking financial reprieve.

An ambitious repayment plan has been set in motion, requiring Vodafone Idea to commence payments from the fiscal year 2031-32. The company is set to pay Rs 100 crore annually over a span of four years, with the balance spread equally in six installments until FY 2040-41.
