Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis officially opened the pivotal 13.3-kilometer 'Missing Link' segment on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Friday. This development, intended to improve road safety, aims to bypass treacherous mountain passes and decrease travel distance and time between the two cities.

The inauguration, aligning with Maharashtra Foundation Day, took place at the Khalapur end of the expressway. CM Fadnavis, accompanied by Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, highlighted the project's significance in easing road congestion problems, particularly in the accident-prone ghat section.

Costing Rs 6,700 crore, the project, led by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, includes substantial infrastructure such as two tunnels, viaducts, and a cable-stayed bridge. Designed to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, it promises substantial savings while offering commendable engineering feats, with parts seeking Guinness World Records recognition.
