Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has inaugurated the highly anticipated 'Missing Link' project on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway this Friday, coinciding with Maharashtra Foundation Day. The project promises to enhance road safety and shrink travel time between Mumbai and Pune by circumventing the challenging mountainous stretch.
This Rs 7,000 crore infrastructure venture is termed an 'engineering marvel' by Fadnavis, who stated it is poised to be an 'economic multiplier.' According to him, the 'Connecting Link' could help establish a Rs 70,000 crore economic economy via increased investment, bolstered connectivity, and industrial progression along the corridor.
The Missing Link features tunnel and bridge constructions over difficult terrain, aiming to reduce congestion in the ghat section, notorious for accidents. Despite traffic disruptions during the opening event, officials emphasize that the new route is set to significantly ease traffic flow, offering substantial fuel savings and reduced air pollution.
