The Delhi government is set to revolutionize the handling of traffic violations by transitioning to a fully digital and time-bound challan system. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the upgrade, emphasizing that the changes are aimed at curbing violations and enhancing road safety.

According to a statement from the Delhi Chief Minister’s Office, individuals committing five or more violations annually will be deemed 'serious offenders' and risk having their driving licenses suspended or disqualified. Violators will initially be required to exhaust all prescribed channels before addressing the court concerning a challan.

Once issued, an e-challan must be contested or paid within the stipulated 45 days or it will be accepted automatically. Continuous violations and non-payments will incur additional penalties, including restricted access to essential vehicle-related services, ensuring tighter compliance and oversight.
