Pakistan Clears Donkey Meat Export Amid Chinese Company Pressure

Pakistan has approved the export of donkey meat to China after months of delay, in response to pressures from the Chinese company, Hangeng Trade Company. The company operates in Gwadar and threatened to halt operations due to bureaucratic hurdles. This decision coincides with PM Shehbaz Sharif's upcoming visit to China.

In a strategic move, Pakistan has given the green light for the export of donkey meat to China. This decision follows a contentious period marked by delays and threats from Hangeng Trade Company, a Chinese firm operating out of Gwadar.

The approval process, which had languished for months under bureaucratic scrutiny, was expedited by the intervention of an advisor to the prime minister. This intervention comes as Pakistan prepares for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's planned visit to China.

The economic implications are significant, with projections indicating potential revenue of $300 million annually from this export. Despite previous compliance with export standards, Hangeng faced stalled operations until the recent governmental clearance.
