Tragedy in the Gorge: Tourist Dies in SUV Plunge

A tragic accident claimed the life of a tourist and left two others injured after their SUV plunged into an 80-foot gorge on Monday, police reported. The incident occurred around 1 pm in the Pines area along the Nainital-Bhowali road.

The Mahindra Thar, travelling towards Nainital, veered off the road when the driver lost control, according to authorities. Rescue teams from the police and State Disaster Response Force quickly arrived at the scene.

All occupants were extracted and taken to a hospital, but one was declared dead on arrival. The deceased, identified as Rahul from Haldwani, perished while Arvind Singh and Yuvraj Singh, from Rajasthan, suffered injuries. Preliminary probes suggest high speed as a factor, with further investigation pending.
