Nagaland Boosts Public Transport with New Fleet of Buses

The Nagaland government has partnered with Tata Motors to improve public transport by procuring 43 new buses. This initiative aims to enhance service coverage, operational efficiency, and revenue potential while providing better safety and comfort for passengers. The project is funded through a deferred payment mechanism over three years at a total cost of Rs 13 crore.

The Nagaland government has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Tata Motors Ltd to procure 43 buses aimed at bolstering public transport services in the state.

According to officials, the delivery of all buses is expected within three months, marking a significant upgrade in fleet capacity. This expansion is anticipated to improve operational efficiency, broaden service coverage in urban and rural areas, and potentially boost revenue generation.

The new buses promise enhanced passenger safety, comfort, and reliability. Additionally, a deferred payment plan allows Nagaland to manage the Rs 13 crore project cost over three years, facilitating fleet acquisition without immediate financial strain.
