A harrowing day unfolded in Jharkhand, as road accidents claimed the lives of four individuals and injured six others across three districts. Reckless driving and high speeds are believed to be the primary causes, according to local police authorities.
In the Giridih district, a tragic accident took place when a speeding pick-up van struck two elderly pedestrians near the Makhmargo panchayat building on the Saria-Rajdhanwar main road, killing them instantly. The victims, aged between 60 and 70, were on foot at the time. An injured man from the same incident is receiving treatment at a government hospital.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old girl perished in Godda district after an SUV, carrying her and four family members, collided with a highway divider. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle was en route to Guwahati from Ranchi when the driver lost control. Another incident in Koderma resulted in the death of an 80-year-old woman, emphasizing the need for improved traffic regulations and enforcement.
