Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project Gets Major Boost with New Coach Order

The Bengaluru Suburban Transport Project took a significant step forward as Bi-RIDE announced the issuance of a work order to the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai for 153 metro-type coaches. The order is valued at Rs 1,513.75 crore and aims to boost the corridor-2 and corridor-4 lines.
The initiative is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and provide a sustainable transportation solution for the city and its environs. The Integral Coach Factory is tasked with commencing the supply within 18 months to meet project timelines set by PM Modi during a review meeting.
The comprehensive contract covers manufacturing, design, production, and testing of coaches, along with coordination of systems infrastructure. Bi-RIDE's Managing Director, Lakshman Singh, emphasized the importance of timely delivery for the project's success.
