India-UAE Forge Strategic Ties Amid West Asia Turmoil
India and the UAE signed crucial agreements covering energy, defence, and shipping, with UAE investments of USD 5 billion in India. In a significant diplomatic move, India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have inked a series of landmark agreements aimed at bolstering strategic partnerships across vital sectors like energy, defence, and shipping. Signed amid escalating tensions in West Asia, these pacts promise a stronger alliance between the two countries.
The agreements, which include a USD 5 billion investment pledge from the UAE, focus on enhancing India’s energy security and expanding strategic petroleum reserves to 30 million barrels. Significant advancements also include cooperation in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) sectors alongside new avenues in defence technology sharing and innovation.
On the economic front, the UAE's commitment includes major investments in India's infrastructure and banking sectors. This cooperation is poised to drive growth, create jobs, and solidify economic ties, as highlighted by both nations' leadership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Abu Dhabi.
