Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries can help govt maximise investment in state: CM Choudhary

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday said the Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries can play a crucial role in realising the state government's aim of achieving industrial growth and attracting maximum investment.

At the inauguration of a programme marking the centenary celebrations of the Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI), he said the state will transition from ''progress to prosperity'' with the cooperation of the business community and promised ''all possible facilities'' to investors.

''The state government formulated the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Package-2025 to attract private investment and boost industrial development. The government wants maximum investment and industrial growth in Bihar, and the BCCI has an important role in this effort,'' he said.

The chief minister lamented that the expected levels of investment have not come to Bihar despite the state having formulated ''one of India's top industrial policies.''.

''Any crime committed in the state is being acted upon within 24 hours on a priority basis. No one can take the law into their own hands in Bihar. District magistrates and superintendents of police would hold meetings with businesspersons every three months to address security concerns and other problems,'' Choudhary said.

He credited former chief ministers Shri Krishna Singh, Karpoori Thakur and Nitish Kumar for contributing to Bihar's industrial landscape at different stages.

Choudhary asserted that industries could not be established solely through the government treasury, and developing projects under a public-private-partnership mode was necessary.

''We initiated the work in 2024 to acquire 14,000 acres of land. A township policy has now been introduced, under which new greenfield satellite townships will be developed over 6.5 lakh acres with investments of Rs 6 lakh crore,'' the Bihar CM said.

The chief minister also inspected the free skill development training centre being run by the Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries for economic self-reliance and interacted with women trainees there.
