A tanker named Olympic Life experienced an external explosion near Oman's coast, causing minor fuel discharge but leaving the vessel stable. Owned by Olympic Shipping & Management, the crew remained unharmed. The cause remains unknown as investigations are underway.
An external explosion hit the Greek-owned tanker Olympic Life near Oman's coast, announced United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations on Tuesday. The blast occurred 60 nautical miles from Muscat, impacting the vessel's port side.
The tanker, which reported a discharge of bunker fuel into the sea, was confirmed stable with no crew injuries. The vessel was not carrying cargo during the incident and continued its voyage in the Gulf of Oman.
Springfield Shipping, the ship’s technical manager, stated the tanker was affected by an unidentified object around 0920 GMT. The resulting damage led to a contained fuel spill. Olympic Shipping & Management, the vessel's owner, has yet to release further comments.
