The Indian government aims to transform Andhra Pradesh into a prominent textile hub, as announced by Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh. His statement highlighted the focus on securing a substantial portion of the Centre's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to benefit the state's textile industry.

During a visit to a textile company in Krishna district, Singh engaged with industry leaders to explore the expansion of the textile and silk sectors. Emphasizing the importance of boosting cotton production, Singh called for policy improvements to address the yield gap compared to global standards, which could enhance productivity substantially.

Further, he noted Andhra Pradesh's strong handloom tradition and mentioned efforts to bolster the industry, aspiring for the state to become a major textile manufacturing center. Enhanced cooperation between the central and state governments is expected to attract significant investments and adapt to technological advances in the global textile market.
