India to Issue Preferential Origin Certificates for Exports to Oman from June 1

Starting June 1, India will issue preferential certificates of origin for exports to Oman through the Trade Connect portal as part of the new CEPA. This will enable Indian exporters to benefit from duty concessions, enhancing trade benefits for both countries.

The Indian government announced that preferential certificates of origin for exports to Oman will be processed from June 1 via the Trade Connect portal. This step comes under the newly enacted India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and is poised to afford Indian exporters crucial duty concessions.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade confirmed that the Trade Connect ePlatform will handle applications and issuance of these electronic certificates. These documents are vital for securing reduced duties in trading with partner countries. The pact, signed in December 2025, allows duty-free access for 98% of Indian exports to Oman, while India will lower tariffs on items like dates and marble from Oman.

India's bilateral trade with Oman surpassed USD 10.61 billion in 2024-25, showcasing a significant rise from the previous year. The new trade agreement is expected to propel this growth further by eliminating barriers and fostering stronger economic ties between the two nations.
