Piyush Goyal's Switzerland Visit Aims to Boost Economic Ties and TEPA Implementation

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal began his two-day visit to Switzerland with a focus on enhancing economic ties through a series of high-level meetings. Among these was a meeting with Swiss President Guy Parmelin, where discussions centered around strengthening bilateral economic engagement, investments, and strategic cooperation under the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA).

Expressing his views on social media, Goyal highlighted the significance of his meeting with President Parmelin, reiterating the enduring partnership between India and Switzerland. The minister underscored the shared commitment towards fostering economic engagement, boosting investment flows, and enhancing strategic cooperation under the TEPA framework.

In another crucial encounter, Minister Goyal co-chaired a meeting with Helene Budliger Artieda, Switzerland’s State Secretary for Economic Affairs, alongside industry leaders from Swiss pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Here, discussions aimed at expanding cooperation in research, innovation, and identifying new investment opportunities within India’s burgeoning healthcare sector were at the forefront. Goyal's visit underscores India's commitment to strengthening ties with Switzerland and making strides in implementing the groundbreaking TEPA, which promises to increase trade and investment flows between India and the EFTA bloc.
