The European Parliament has taken a decisive step to mitigate trade tensions with the United States by approving duty reductions on various U.S. imports. This move fulfills the EU's commitments as part of a trade pact established with U.S. President Donald Trump nearly a year ago.

Negotiated during a summit at Trump's Turnberry golf course in Scotland, the agreement focused on removing tariffs on U.S. industrial goods and granting preferential access to American farm produce. In exchange, the U.S. agreed to cap its tariffs on EU goods at 15%.

Despite the agreement, the EU took eleven months to pass the necessary legislation amidst threats from Trump to impose higher tariffs if the issue remained unresolved by July 4. This legislative approval marks a crucial effort to maintain and enhance the trade partnership between these leading economies.
