Sudan, Syria to revitalize agricultural relations, exchange of technical expertise

Syria’s agriculture minister Ahmad Al-Qadri recently had a long discussion with his Sudanese counterpart Babikir Osman Mohamed Ali on the cooperation of the countries in the agriculture domain. Both ministers encouraged the implementation of agricultural scientific research and animal health to augment the exchange of agricultural products.
The ways to increase the exchange of agricultural products will serve the interest of both Syria and Sudan. Even the exchange of technical expertise in all domains was also discussed by the ministers. On the other hand, both the ministers also discussed the possibility of exporting veterinary drugs from the Syrian factories to Sudan.
The Syrian minister presented a briefing on the reality of agriculture in Syria and advanced stages that it had reached ahead of the war including the difficult circumstances which it went through during the global war waged against Syria and the systematic destruction of the agricultural sector in the country. While extolling the peasants and workers in the agricultural domain, he said that the production continued to strive despite all the difficulties which the sector had passed through.
The Sudanese minister shed light on the strong relations binding the two nations and reminded the aim of agricultural cooperation, particularly in the domain of the livestock and irrigation. Even the ministers emphasized to severely activate the agreements that had been previously signed between the two countries.
The Director General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) Rafiq Saleh stressed the importance of the Sudanese delegation’s visit to Syria to meet the officials to the media persons including the development of relations between the two nations in a way that would serve the interests of the two peoples, as stated by EIN News.
He added that the visit of the delegation will also allow it to inspect the work of the organization and to start the first stage of the project which is being implemented by the Center in the Sudan which is a study of the use of lands as 40 million hectares have been executed out of 100 million which is the total space of all the project’s stages.
