Goa's Investment Promotion Board (IPB) will soon have a single-window facilitation mechanism to facilitate investors, Industries Minister Vishwajit Rane told the state Assembly on Wednesday. Rane, while responding to the cut motions moved by opposition benches on demands for grants on the industries department, said the government intends to bring in more investment into the state to make it more progressive.
Rane admitted that the IPB has not met for the last nine months and is currently ceased to be a single-window system for attracting investment. "We want to make IPB, a real single window system wherein the investors don't have to go to different places to get clearance for his investment proposal," he said.
The minister said that over the next three months, the IPB would be synchronised with the industries department. Referring to other issues plaguing the industrial growth in the state, Rane said there is a tremendous encroachment on the lands in the industrial estates run by the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).
He said the work of identifying encroachments in the industrial estates would be outsourced to an agency, which will submit its report. Referring to the speeches of the opposition MLAs in the House during a discussion on the demands for grants, Rane appealed to the members not to create sensation about the issues on industrial sector.
"If we go on driving the industry away and creating sensation, none will look at Goa to invest," he said. "...We should not create uncertain environment in Goa.
Be a part of this progressive Goa. This is the way forward," the minister added..
