AHMEDABAD, India, Dec. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- While speaking at the 40th Foundation Day of Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), on 14th December 2019, the Hon'ble Vice President of India, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu said that the institute has been working to build an India the way Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Mahatma Gandhi had dreamed of.

Other dignitaries present were Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Hon'ble Minister of Revenue, Education (Primary, Secondary and Adult), Higher and Technical Education and Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of Gujarat; Shri Mitesh Rameshbhai Patel, Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha; Shri Lal Sinh Vadodia, Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha; Shri Dilip Rath, Chairman, IRMA; Shri Kantibhai Chavda, President, Anand Nagar Palika and Prof. Hitesh V. Bhatt, Director, IRMA.

Shri Naidu appreciated IRMA for having a multi-faceted and multi-pronged approach to Rural Management education and research and urged the students of IRMA to prepare, challenge themselves and strive to make India's growth story more inclusive and focusing on Personal Social Responsibility (PSR).

Hon'ble Vice President saluted the memory of Dr Verghese Kurien and called him a great institution builder. He emphasised the need for places like Anand and stories like AMUL and IRMA in bringing people back to their roots. It was here at Anand where the white revolution was conceptualised. He remembered the efforts of Dr Kurien and his team in making India the world's largest milk producer.

On the occasion, the Hon'ble Vice President released IRMA's commemorative coffee table book titled 'Empowering India through professional management'. He also visited NDDB's visitor centre 'Parikrama'.

Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasma urged IRMA to actively look into the Water Management issue, considering the impending water scarcity that looms large over the country.

Shri Dilip Rath said that over the last four decades, IRMA has striven to live up to the ideals of its Founding Father Dr Kurien and today more than 60 per cent of the 3,000 odd IRMA alumni are working in organisations serving rural and allied sectors.

He further said that institutions are known to be synonymous with the people who had built them and nowhere is this more apparent than in IRMA.
