Lt Governor announces relief for kin of dead woman

Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of a woman who got washed away in a flood caused by rain here.

In an official press release, the Lieutenant Governor said the educational expenses of the children of the 37- year-old Asina Begam from neighboring Shanmugapuram village would be borne by the territorial government.

Also, Soundararajan conveyed her condolences to Begum's widower.

The woman got washed away on Sunday and her body was recovered by the Fire and Rescue Service today.
