Kejriwal announces more skill centers and seeks Australia's cooperation

The Delhi government announced Thursday it will open 25 more skill centers and sought Australia's cooperation in the fields of skilling, incubation centers, and research and development.

According to a statement released by the Delhi government, skill and incubation centers were among the three areas that were discussed at a meeting between Australian High Commissioner to India Harinder Sidhu, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia.

"Look forward to collaboration with Australia especially in the fields of skilling, incubation centers and R &D (sic)," the chief minister tweeted after the meeting.

Kejriwal and Sisodia informed the high commissioner about the world-class skill centers at Delhi and the excellent results achieved in the last three years, while Sidhu talked about the understanding with the Singapore government on the first skill center.

"The chief minister also told her that Delhi was soon going to open 25 more skill centers. He and the deputy chief minister have sought an understanding with Australia for the upcoming skill centers. The high commissioner answered in an affirmative and asked a detailed proposal to be sent to be taken further," the statement said.

They also discussed cooperation and understanding over incubation centers and the high commissioner said that similar partnership already exists between institutions in India and Australia and expressed willingness over understanding with Delhi's incubation center, it said.

Kejriwal emphasized on looking at partnership opportunities in the area of research and development.

Sidhu said India and Australia could collaborate and partner in ten key sectors, including the flagship area of education. The Delhi government listed its priorities like education and health, added the statement.
