Panama Canal bumps daily cargo ship crossings up to 27
The Panama Canal on Tuesday said it had adjusted the number of daily slots for the passage of cargo ships across the key global waterway available at its Panamax locks, with two additional slots opening beginning on March 18 and another on March 25.
In a statement, the canal's administrator announced that the additional slots will bring the canal's total crossings up to 27 a day. The canal authority added it will closely monitor the water situation as the crossing is impacted by a historic drought.
