Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi has credited educational reforms carried out by the Union Government in the last decade for India’s ascent to becoming the world's fifth largest economy.
During a conference, Ravi emphasized the transformative role of the National Education Policy 2020 in shaping a 'Viksit Bharat by 2047.' He underlined how colonial-era education policies hampered India’s economic growth, relegating the country from the world’s sixth to the eleventh largest economy by 2014.
The recent reforms, however, have placed India on a path to becoming the third largest economy in the coming years. Ravi stressed the need for a national perspective in education that appreciates 'Bharat' and the 'Bharatiya Knowledge System.'
